Cluster Pays: how you get paid

Sweet Bonanza doesn’t use paylines. It pays on clusters: groups of matching symbols that touch (horizontal or vertical). The more symbols in the cluster, the bigger the pay. You usually need at least eight of the same type touching to count as a win.

Tumbles

When you land a winning cluster, those symbols disappear, new ones drop in (tumble) and you can score again on the same spin. Tumbles keep going until no new cluster forms. One spin can chain into several wins.

Grid and bet

The grid is 6 columns by 5 rows. You choose your bet per spin; the casino shows the min and max. That amount applies to every spin. No lines to set — you pick one value per spin and you’re done.

Bet range

Limits depend on the casino. You’ll usually see everything from a few cents to high amounts per spin. Pick a level that lets you last a bunch of spins without blowing the bankroll — strategies and tips has more on bankroll.

Low and high symbols

Low symbols are the fruits: grapes, watermelon, apple, etc. They pay less per cluster. High symbols are the candy; they pay more. In the game info (“?” or “paytable”) you’ll see exactly what each symbol pays by cluster size. No need to memorize — open the table and look.

Pay recap

The more matching symbols touching, the more you get. Each symbol has its own multiplier by cluster size (8, 9, 10, etc.). Specials are the scatter (lollipop) and multipliers, which only show up in the bonus.

Scatter and free spins

The scatter is the lollipop. If four or more land anywhere on the grid on one spin, you’re in the free spins bonus.

During free spins

Multipliers (e.g. x2, x3, x5) can appear and add together. That’s what makes a bonus round potentially big. How many free spins you get depends on how many scatters landed. If more scatters hit during the bonus, you get extra spins.

Bonus buy

Lots of casinos let you buy straight into the free spins bonus by paying a multiple of your bet (e.g. 100x). You skip waiting for scatters. Handy if you want to get to the action fast, but it raises risk per spin — you’re paying upfront. If the bonus doesn’t deliver, you lose that chunk. If you like a bit of controlled risk, try it sometimes; if you’d rather take it easy, let the scatters land on their own.
